透過拉邦/芭田妮芙動作系統擁抱多彩的世界"Embracing the Colorful World Through the Lens of Laban/Bartenieff Movement Studies/Systems (LBMS)"
This presentation consists two parts. 1. Overviewing of Somatic Movement/Dance Education with Laban/Bartenieff Movement Studies/System (LBMS) and how it relates to my life questions, and 2. Sharing a case study based on my teaching.
The key words of this presentation are “Somatics”, “Movement”, and “LBMS.” Somatics is “the field which studies the soma: namely the body as perceived from within by first-person perception (Hanna.T).” So, this is a key concept to embrace human being as wholeness. “Movement” tells us who we are, where we are, and how we exist. “LBMS” has language to observe, describe, interpret, and document various human movement. Therefore, Somatics, Movement, and LBMS help understand human being and so, “Somatic Movement/Dance Education with LBMS” is what we can explore “how we exist in this world,” which is one of my life questions.
A study I introduce in presentation is graduate level course called “Expressive Technique” and shows what student A gained in the course with LBMS. This course was for students who majors either Arts, Language, Dance and Music to expand their expressive technique in their field. The data was collected from three people, who were student A (Awareness Note and Interview), Instructor B and Observer (Professor) C in 2017. There were five findings (and indicated four stages) which were 1. Body Awareness was increased (Sensation), 2. Body-Mind were integrated (Integration), 3. Movement Vocabulary and Expressive Skill were acquired (Acquisition), 4. Movement Observation Skill was acquired (Acquisition), and 5. Training with Physical Sensation was recognized (Application). From these findings, it suggested one of the conceivable mechanisms of Student A went through was that she was able to connect body-mind and body-word system with LBMS’s movement language which has the characteristic of learning certain physical sensation with a certain word.
